Independent National Sales Director Sue Ford

I believe in you. Independent National Sales Director Sue Ford passed away on Sept. 22, 1992. Despite the fact that no one knew about Mary Kay in Chicago, Sue blazed a trail there and experienced excellent first-year sales and team building successes.

Sue loved the Mary Kay products from the very beginning and though as she said, “I was totally void of sales experience and completely without a sense of direction, I was determined to find a way to make it work.” And Sue certainly benefited from her earliest teachers – Mary Kay Ash and Sue Z. Vickers. “From the moment Sue Z. introduced me to Mary Kay, and she held my hand and said, ‘I believe in you,’ I was a believer!” Sue began her Mary Kay business in November 1968 and debuted as an Independent Sales Director in September 1972 and as an Independent National Sales Director in February 1983. Sue was the recipient of the monthly Go-Give Award in October 1978. Sue earned the use of a pink Cadillac consistently since 1975 and was in the Half-Million Dollar Circle two times and the Circle of Excellence one time. Sue was Illinois State Queen for five consecutive years and was a member of the Mary Kay Millionaires Club earning over $1 million in commissions.

Sue said of her journey, “I know I am a better person as a result of my Mary Kay experience. Every day I experience growth, and I realize that the future is today and for all tomorrows. Where they will lead is unclear, but I have faith that it will be great. I have discovered the pot of gold – riches beyond belief in love, friendship, caring and sharing!” Longtime friend and sister NSD, Independent National Sales Director Emeritus Abbie Webster said, “People like Sue are the glue that holds others together. She kept us all friends, was very caring of the needs of others and loved celebrating the success of others!”

At the time of her death, Sue lived in Dallas, Texas, and was survived by her daughter and son-in-law, two grandchildren and two brothers.
